Our Editorial Standards

CarInsuranceQuote.ai is operated by a team of finance and insurance professionals. This page explains how we research, rate, and publish content, and how our affiliate relationships work.

Who We Are

CarInsuranceQuote.ai is operated by a team of finance and insurance professionals with a combined 25+ years of experience in the automotive insurance and warranty industry. Our platform serves drivers across the United States and Canada with independent comparison tools, rate data, and educational guides covering car insurance, extended warranties, and vehicle coverage decisions.

Our Senior Editorial Lead brings 20 years of direct experience in North American banking and insurance, including 15 years in commercial and retail banking covering mortgage underwriting, credit risk modelling, and consumer financial product analysis, followed by five years focused on insurance market research including actuarial rate modelling, loss ratio analysis, and carrier financial health assessment.

How We Research Products

Our editorial team researches every product category we cover using the following process.

  1. Direct research. We review provider websites, sample contracts, coverage terms, and pricing for each product we compare. Where online quotes are available, we obtain them. Where a phone call is required, we document that as a friction point in our transparency assessment.
  2. Public data. We analyze BBB ratings and complaints, Trustpilot reviews, Google Reviews, and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau complaint data where available.
  3. Industry data. We reference RepairPal, J.D. Power, the Bureau of Labor Statistics Motor Vehicle Insurance CPI, and Statistics Canada CPI data for vehicle reliability and repair cost information.
  4. Regular updates. Our guides are reviewed and updated when providers change their terms, pricing, or availability. Guides show a Last Updated date at the top of every article.

Our Rating Methodology

Extended car warranty providers are rated on a 5-star scale across 8 criteria.

  1. Coverage breadth across all plan tiers
  2. Online quote availability without a phone call
  3. Repair shop network flexibility
  4. California and Canadian availability
  5. Contract transparency and cancellation terms
  6. Deductible structure
  7. Customer review sentiment from the past 90 days
  8. Pricing relative to coverage provided

No single criterion determines the overall rating. Providers that required phone calls to get basic pricing were penalized in our transparency score. Providers not available in California were noted explicitly as this affects approximately 40 million potential buyers.

Affiliate Relationships

CarInsuranceQuote.ai earns referral fees from some providers when you complete a quote through our links. Currently, we have an affiliate relationship with Chaiz via the MaxBounty network. This does not affect our editorial ratings or rankings. We cover providers regardless of whether an affiliate relationship exists. Chaiz is our top pick because it earned that rating based on our criteria, not because of the affiliate relationship.

All affiliate links on this site are identified with rel="noopener sponsored" attributes and are accompanied by a disclosure statement on every page where they appear.

Corrections Policy

If you identify factual errors in our content, please contact us. We correct verified factual errors within 48 hours. Rate data and provider information is reviewed on a quarterly basis, with out-of-cycle reviews triggered by material changes in provider terms, pricing, or regulatory requirements.

Editorial Independence

Our editorial team operates independently from our business relationships. Providers cannot pay for favorable editorial coverage. Rankings and ratings reflect our independent research methodology as described on this page. Our affiliate relationship with Chaiz was established after Chaiz earned our top ranking based on the criteria above, not before.
